custom commands

Jun 24, 2010 at 10:24 PM

Hello, I receive

Errors:
   * Wrong arguments number supplied for the "custom" command.
     Usage: ftps [options] <customFTPCommand>

for this command:
C:\>ftps  -noCopyrightInfo  -h sft.xx.xxx -U del-xxx -port 21 -ssl All -password xxx -custom cwd /ESA/ >

Do you have any further documentation on the use of custom commands?  Can you shed light on why the command fails?

Thanks for your help!

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I was busy attending family vacation duties lately :-) about the error, command line parameters including spaces should use quotation: ftps -noCopyrightInfo -h sft.xx.xxx -U del-xxx -port 21 -ssl All -password xxx -custom "cwd /ESA/" This command does basically nothing. It just performs a CWD before exiting. What was your goal? Upload, Download, etc? A custom command is just a text command passed "as is" to the server. This is useful for non standard FTP server implementations. Cheers, Alessandro Pilotti [MVP / IIS]

Hi Christopher,

if you need to move files on the server, just look for the "-rename" or "-rn" option.

If you need to move files between server and client, issue a get command followed by a delete command (eventually I will add an option to delete the file after getting it :-) ).

Hi Alessandro, thanks for answering.

I have found that the download command allows wildcards, but the
delete and rename do not. when you implement the move command, can you
incorporate the use of wildcards?

thanks
Christopher
